New minimum requirements for Hg Reader on Drupal 7 web sites

As part of our performance improvements to Mercury, we're going to require that Drupal 7 sites use a minimum version of the Hg Reader module. We wanted to tell you NOW, so you can start preparing ahead of late September.

Why is this now required?

As the number of delightfully-collaborative people using Mercury grows, so does the effort Mercury works under. The goal of this minimum is to lessen the amount of work Mercury has to do, because more recent versions of hg_reader have big improvements in this area.

When will this change and how?

These requirements won't take affect until at least the end of September (2015), as we're all SUPER busy with the start of the academic year. After the to-be-announced date, though, Mercury will ignore requests from hg_reader (for D7 sites) that are below this version (7.x-2.4).

Questions, please

If this general timeline will be difficult for you, please do contact us at webteam@gatech.edu, and we'll see if accommodations can be made.

Thanks, as always, for helping us create a better GT web experience for everybody!
